Ellen's 12 Days of Giveaways

Ellen’s famous ’12 Days of Giveaways’ kicks off the holiday season with daily shows featuring a variety of gifts giveaways, including vacations, electronics and gift cards. The Ellen Show studio audience get to take home the prizes of the day brought out by Ellen and her slew of celebrity guests. The audience at home also has a chance to win the prize packages by visiting the website to enter.

In this project I planned out the user experience for fans who came to the ellentube.com website in order to enter to win the giveaways. Users could enter each day of the 12 days, after the show had aired, to win the giveaway package for that day.

User Journey Map

In this user journey map I examined the plan for how the user would move through the campaign, in order to remove friction for the user and ensure that the goals of the campaign could be met. I thought through what actions the user would need to take and what the opportunities were for making the campaign successful.

In this user flow I mapped out what the user would need to do to in order to successfully enter each daily giveaway. I looked at how the user would move through the site pages and how the account login flow would work.

12 Days of Giveaways landing page

I created mobile and desktop wireframes for the landing page. This page needed a navigation to individual pages for each of the 12 days of the campaign and one for the Grand Prizes. Each day visual needed to show whether the day was current, upcoming or had past. This was achieved with a rollover state depending on the day’s status.

For this campaign developers helped to provide code to animate the visuals for each day with a flip open effect to show text. The text informed the user if the day had past or was upcoming. 

The current day was highlighted by a gentle pulsing animation.

Falling snow animation for all pages

Developers helped to provide code to animate all the pages in this campaign with soft falling snow. A combination of small, simple flakes and larger more intricate flakes. 

Individual page for each day of the giveaway

This is the final look for the individual pages for each day of the campaign. These pages included a video player component, a featured gallery of the giveaways and a large ‘enter to win’ button. Users could click on the ‘i’ for information icon to learn more about the product from a popup modal.
